Given the flexible framework of how Campaign Manager runs campaigns, you can create new action types at any point that reference new worksheet views.

To incorporate a custom action type, follow these steps:

Create a worksheet and an action type

  1. Go to the desired workbook and create a worksheet with the required fields. For more information about creating worksheets, read create a worksheet from a database and create a worksheet from a data file.

    The spelling of each field in the worksheet’s underlying view must be exact, but is not case-sensitive.

  2. In your new worksheet, select Properties. In Worksheet general properties, go to the Worksheet view field and note the value.

  3. Go to the Action Types worksheet and add an action type. For the Engine Output Worksheet View field, input the Worksheet view value from step 2.

  4. Go to the Action Metrics worksheet. Add action metrics to use as a campaign threshold and filter the results in the Engine Output Worksheet View.

    To add, select Add, complete all required and desired fields in the modal, and select Save.

  5. Go to the Action Types worksheet and run the Update Engine Output Field Dropdown worksheet action. For more information about this worksheet action, read Worksheet actions.

  6. Add an engine output threshold condition. For the Condition Id field, input a unique ID. Leave the other fields blank and select Save.

  7. Go to the newly created engine output threshold condition and use the picklists for each column to select the desired Engine Output Field columns and Action Metric. Manually type in the desired operator between the two fields to be used in the filter condition. For more information, read About action types.

Run a campaign

  1. Go to the Campaigns worksheet and add a campaign.
  2. Add a campaign action based on the action type from step 3 in Create a worksheet view and an action type​​.
  3. Run the Activate Selected Campaigns worksheet action. For more information about this worksheet action, read Worksheet actions.
  4. Set campaign thresholds as desired.
  5. Select the campaign from step 2 and run the Run Selected Campaigns worksheet action. For more information about this worksheet action, read Worksheet actions.

Running your new campaign populates the Action Review worksheet with all the records from the Engine Output Worksheet View configured for the customer action type based on the campaign’s thresholds.
