Each object detail screen consists of a set of tabs to organize related information, such as the standard Overview, Line Items, and Notes tabs, as well as any custom tabs you define. You can customize which tabs appear, in what order, how they’re labeled, and which users can access them. You can also create custom tabs to capture information specific to your business needs.

Prerequisites
To customize tabs:
Verify that you have the UI EXTENSIBILITY PERMISSION. For details on assigning permissions, read Role management.
Manage tab visibility
Open the customization dialog from the object header section.
In the Tabs tab, turn on or off the switch next to the tab name.
Select Publish.
Rearrange tabs
Open the customization dialog from the object header section.
In the Tabs tab, drag the tab to the desired position to define where it appears in the object detail screen.
Select Publish.
Add localized tab labels
Open the customization dialog from the object header section.
In the Tabs tab, next to the tab name, select Edit.
Go to the Localization tab.
Select + Add Localized Label.
From the Language dropdown field, select a language.
In the Label field, enter a button label.
Repeat Steps 4–6 for each language you need.
Select Save.
At the top of the dialog, next to the tab name, select Back to go back to the tab list.
Select Publish.
Tip
To display the new labels in the UI, sign out and then sign back in to CPQ.
Restrict tab visibility by UI profile
Open the customization dialog from the object header section.
In the Tabs tab, next to the tab name, select Edit.
Go to the Visibility tab.
Select + Add Profile to Hide Tab From.
Select the UI profiles, then select Add Profile.
Select Save.
At the top of the dialog, next to the tab name, select Back to go back to the tab list.
Select Publish.
Apply mass restrictions to tabs
You can hide several tabs at once for multiple UI profiles. This helps you quickly control what each profile can see and interact with.
To apply mass restrictions:
Open the customization dialog from the object header section.
In the Tabs tab, select Mass Restrictions, then select + Add Profiles for Mass Restrictions.
Select one or multiple UI profiles, then select Add Profile.
Select Next.
In the Hide tab, select + Add, then select the tabs to hide for the selected UI profiles. Select Add.
Select Save, then select Publish.
Add a custom tab
Creating custom tabs allows you to organize additional information that’s specific to your business processes. This is useful when the standard tabs don’t fully cover the data or actions you need. Custom tabs help present relevant content in a structured way, improving usability and supporting more tailored workflows.
To add a custom tab:
Open the customization dialog from the object header section.
In the Tabs tab, select Add Tab.
Enter a name for the tab, then select OK.
Select Publish.
