Article summary

When you publish a campaign, Campaign Manager populates the Published Campaign Actions worksheet with certain fields. The Published Campaign Actions worksheet represents the current state of published actions. For more details, read Review published actions.

One of the fields that Campaign Manager populates on the worksheet is the Reason field. This field’s value is a reason code, which describes the most recent response to a published action. You can configure reason codes in Sales Planner to prompt users to select from a picklist of reasons when updating an action’s status.

Note

To configure reason codes, you must have the Zilliant Platform Administrator user permission. For more information about administrator permissions, contact your organization administrator.

To assign and optionally require a reason code selection when users respond to an action in Sales Planner:

  1. Create a reason code.
  2. Assign a reason code to an action status.
  3. Prompt users to select a reason code.

Create a reason code

  1. Go to Setup > Objects and Fields > Picklist Value Sets.
  2. In the Global Value Sets table, select ActionReasonCode. This set defines the available set of reason codes.
  3. In the Values table, define the full set of reason codes you want to configure. To add new values, select New.
  4. Type one or more values into the textbox that appears, each value in its own line.
  5. Select Save.

Assign a reason code to an action status

  1. From the Lightning App Launcher, select Action Reasons.
  2. Select New to map a reason code to a published action status.
  3. Fill out all required fields in the modal.
    • Action Reason Name—Name of the mapping.
    • Action—The status of a published action.
    • Reason—The reason code you want to assign.
    • DisplayOrder—(Optional.) Defines a reason code’s order of appearance in a picklist when updating an action’s status. The lower the value, the higher the reason code’s order of appearance. For example, a reason code with a DisplayOrder of 0 appears above a reason code with a DisplayOrder of 1 in a picklist.
  4. Select Save.

Prompt users to select a reason code

To prompt users to select a reason code when updating a published action’s status, configure the status’ custom settings.

  1. Go to Setup > Custom Code > Custom Settings.
  2. In the Custom Settings table, select Manage next to the Action Reason Configuration setting.
  3. In the Action Reason Configuration table, select Edit next to the desired published action status where you want to enable reason codes. Only update the checkboxes as described below:
    • IsEnabled—Select this checkbox if you want the status to include a reason code selection.
    • IsRequired—Select this checkbox if you want the status to require a reason code selection.
  4. Select Save.
Note

In order for a reason code selection to be required, both the IsEnabled and IsRequired checkboxes must be selected.
