Work with product configurator

Learn how to work with the product configurator:

Open the product configurator

Use one of the following methods to open the product configurator:

• While adding a new product to the quote:

  1. From the application left navigation area, select Quotes.
  2. Open a quote and select + to add a new line item.
  3. In the product catalog, on a configurable product, select Configure.

• From an existing line item on a quote:

  1. From the application left navigation area, select Quotes.
  2. Open a quote.
  3. On a configurable product, next to the product name, select .
  Tip

  Depending on the configuration status of a product, the product configurator icon can have a different color:

  • Green—Base configuration complete.
  • Red—Base configuration incomplete.
  • Blue—Product is not configurable.

When you complete the base configuration of a product and add its bill of material, you can open price items and partner information for this product. To do this, go to the line item table and select the position number of the line item.

Product configurator fields

To simplify your work with the product configurator, Zilliant CPQ uses visual cues that differentiate configurator field types.

• A vertical red bar appears before fields required for valid configuration and for calculating the base price of a product.
• Values of fields with a dotted blue border are defined by the system. A source for these values can be a script, a trigger, or a system change. Depending on the model settings, you can edit system defined values.
• Values of fields with a solid blue border are defined by a user.

Switch between configurator views

Zilliant CPQ allows you to view product configurations in two formats:

• Editable view (available only for configurable products)
• Read-only, tabular view

To switch between configurator views, follow these steps:

1. Open the product configurator.
2. Select Technical View to switch between the editable view and the read-only tabular view. If you don't see the Technical View switch, add it to the user interface.

View product variants

The product configurator enables you to work with product variants. For details, read Manage product variants.

View partners and product text

Using the product configurator, you can:

• View and edit the product text to document special requests and configured attributes.
• View and edit partner information to make changes to the ship-to or bill-to information.

To view partners and product text:

1. Open the product configurator.
2. Select .
