Article summary

After you run a campaign, you can review and validate campaign actions in the Action Review worksheet.

Worksheet actions

The Action Review worksheet has five worksheet actions:

  • Validate Selected Actions—Validates actions for which you've selected the Publish checkbox. The process runs automatically after any campaign run and as the first step of any publish. This worksheet action should be run manually after importing any custom actions from a CSV file.
  • Publish Selected Actions—Validates and publishes actions for which the Publish checkbox is selected. Only actions that have the Is Valid checkbox selected after the validation process completes are pushed into a front end system and become immediately available to that front end system.
    Tip

To ensure you publish the intended campaign actions, use the processes and data available on this worksheet in tandem with the Campaign Manager > Published Actions > Published Campaign Actions worksheet.

  • Unflag Publish if Action Impact Adj. < Min—Clears the Publish checkbox for records where the Adjusted Action Impact is lower than the Action Impact Min Threshold. This action provides an automatic process for incorporating the seller feedbacks into subsequent publishes. This helps ensure that those groups of actions that are regularly dismissed, snoozed, or not responded to are less likely to be published again.
  • Clear Review Sheet—Deletes all records from this worksheet. This action is helpful for clearing out existing actions before importing a set of custom actions.
  • Import—Imports a CSV file with custom actions directly into this worksheet.

Import campaign actions

Campaign Manager allows you to directly import campaign actions from a CSV file. Ensure the CSV file includes the following columns:

  • Publish—Actions with the TRUE value in this column will have the Publish checkbox selected after import.
  • Campaign Id
  • Action Type Id
  • Customer Id
  • Record Id—If this granularity is not needed, specify a default value of 0 for this column.
  • Product Group Id
  • Product Group Description (optional)
  • Action Priority (optional)
  • Action Impact (optional)
  • Current (optional)
  • Target (optional)
  • Talk Track (optional)

To import campaign actions:

  1. Go to the Campaigns worksheet.
  2. Select the Import worksheet action.
  3. Complete the steps to import campaign actions. Depending on your user permissions, the following image displays these steps.

Action validation

When you run a campaign or import campaign actions, a series of validation checks are applied to the actions in the Action Review worksheet. To re-run the validation process manually at any time, select the Validate Selected Actions worksheet action.

Before you continue

Validation checks are applied only to actions for which the Publish checkbox is selected.

After validation, the following statuses may appear in the Validation column:

New ActionValidates that the action is new and eligible for publishing. The Is Valid checkbox is selected and the Is Update checkbox is cleared for this action.
Existing Action UpdateValidates that the action will be used to update the currently active and identified action that is already published in a front end system. Both Is Valid and Is Update checkboxes are selected for this action. After you publish the run, the following fields are updated for existing actions:
  • Campaign Id—Matches the campaign that includes the action in the latest run.
  • Campaign Name
  • Action Type Name—Derived from the Action Types worksheet.
  • Product Group Description
  • Action Impact
  • Current
  • Target
  • Action Priority
  • Talk Track
  • Product Group Description
  • Visibility Period After Closed—Derived from the Campaign Actions worksheet.
  • Reactivation Periods—Derived from the Campaign Settings worksheet.
Unknown Campaign IdInvalidates the action and identifies that the Campaign Id of the action does not match any Campaign Id on the Campaigns worksheet.
Unknown Action Type IdInvalidates the action and identifies that the Action Type Id of the action does not match any Action Type Id on the Action Types worksheet.
Inactive CampaignInvalidates the action and identifies that its campaign is not currently active.
Action Type not configured with this CampaignInvalidates the action and identifies that its action type is not set up on the Campaign Actions worksheet for this campaign.
Unknown CustomerInvalidates the action and identifies that the Customer Id for the specified action type is not found on the Customers worksheet.
Excluded CustomerInvalidates the action and identifies that the Exclusion Flag checkbox is selected for its customer on the Customers worksheet.
Invalid Product Group Id for this Action TypeInvalidates the action and identifies that the Product Group Id does not map correctly to the field on the Sales IQ Products worksheet, which is specified in the Product Field column on the Action Types worksheet.
Doesn't meet Campaign's Action Impact thresholdInvalidates the action and identifies that the Action Impact value does not meet the Action Impact Min Threshold specified on the Campaign Actions worksheet.
Lower Rank Action Type with a duplicate Action of the same ScopeInvalidates the action and identifies that there exists a duplicate action with the same PGA scope and a higher action type rank specified on the Action Types worksheet. In this case, another action with the same PGA scope should be published as a New Action or Existing Action Update.
Lower Rank Campaign with duplicate Action of the same ScopeInvalidates the action and identifies that there exists a duplicate action with the same PGA scope and a higher campaign rank specified on the Campaigns worksheet. In this case, another action with the same PGA scope should be published as a New Action or Existing Action Update.
In-progress and still Active Action with same Scope already existsInvalidates the action and identifies that an action with the same PGA scope is published and has already been updated in a front end system (StatusIdentified) but is still active. In this case, a new action with the same PGA scope cannot be published.
Identified and still Active Action with same Scope already existsInvalidates the action and identifies that an action with the same PGA scope is published and active (Status = Identified), but it has a different action type. In this case, a new action with the same PGA scope cannot be published. Also, because this action is of a different type, it cannot be updated.
Exceeds Max Number Per CustomerInvalidates the action and identifies that it exceeds the Max Per Customer limit defined on the Campaign Actions worksheet. To prioritize campaign actions of the same type for the same customer, the Adjusted Action Impact value is used. It is calculated on the Action Review worksheet and used to determine which actions should remain valid when you apply the Max Per Customer limit.
Exceeds Max Number Per Sales GroupInvalidates the action and identifies that it exceeds the Max Per Sales Group limit defined on the Campaign Actions worksheet. The sales group, to which this limit is applied, is specified in the Sales Group column on the Customers worksheet. To prioritize campaign actions of the same type for the same sales group, the Adjusted Action Impact value is used. It is calculated on the Action Review worksheet and used to determine which actions should remain valid when you apply the Max Per Sales Group limit.

KPI Cards

The Action Review worksheet includes a number of standard KPI cards that summarize validated actions. The following KPI cards are provided by default:

  • Total Actions Flagged For Publish—Calculates the total number of actions on the worksheet where the Publish checkbox is selected. It ignores any filters applied to the worksheet.
  • Actions Flagged For Publish—Calculates the number of actions on the worksheet where the Publish checkbox is selected. Calculation is done after worksheet filters have been applied.
  • Flagged Actions Invalid for Publish—Calculates the number of actions on the worksheet for which the Publish checkbox is selected, but the Is Valid checkbox is cleared by the validation process. Calculation is done after worksheet filters have been applied.
  • Valid New Actions—Calculates the number of actions on the worksheet for which both Publish and Is Valid checkboxes are selected, but the Is Update checkbox is cleared. Calculation is done after worksheet filters have been applied.
  • Valid Action Updates—Calculates the number of actions on the worksheet for which Publish, Is Valid, and Is Update checkboxes are selected. Calculation is done after worksheet filters have been applied.
  • Valid New Action Impact—Calculates the sum of the Action Impact values associated with Valid New Actions. Calculation is done after worksheet filters have been applied.
  • Customers with New or Updated Actions—Calculates the number of unique customers on the worksheet for which the Is Valid checkbox are selected. Calculation is done after worksheet filters have been applied.

Feedback loop

The Action Review worksheet allows you to influence campaign actions that are published based on the closed-loop feedback loop from previously published actions. The feedback loop is configured across multiple worksheets, and eventually leads to the following columns in the Action Review worksheet:

  • Feedback Loop Segment—Related column defined on the Customers worksheet as a calculated column. It represents groups of customers within which the pursued rate is calculated. This column is displayed on the Action Review worksheet as defined on the Feedback Loop worksheet.
  • Total Observations—Related column totaling the number of non-canceled actions within the same Action Type + Product Group + Feedback Loop Segment combination published between the start date and end date defined on the Feedback Loop worksheet.
  • Pursued Observations—Related column totaling the non-cancelled actions that meet the following criteria:
    • They have the same Action Type + Product Group + Feedback Loop Segment combination.
    • They were published between the start date and end date defined on the Feedback Loop worksheet.
    • They have the same status of Pursuing, Won, Lost, Accepted, or Rejected.
  • Pursued Rate—Related column showing the ratio of Pursued Observations to Total Observations. This is for when the Total Observations for the Action Type + Product Group + Feedback Loop Segment exceeds the Min Observations setting defined on the Feedback Loop worksheet.
  • Action Impact Min Threshold—Related column showing the Action Impact Min Threshold defined on the Campaign Actions worksheet.
  • Adjusted Action Impact—Calculated column defining the adjusted action impact as the action impact of each action discounted by the corresponding pursued rate. This value is used to prioritize actions whenever the Max Per Customer or Max Per Sales Group limits are applied.

To view your current feedback loop configuration, go to the Feedback Loop worksheet. For more information about feedback loops, read Review published actions.
