Article summary

Create one or more scenarios to evaluate how potential changes might impact a deal. Scenarios allow you to modify and adjust header and line values and then compare those changes to the original deal. You also can compare the header (primary) deal to one or more of its scenarios.

You can create as many scenarios as you want, and you can change them in different ways.

Anything that you can edit in the primary deal can be edited in a scenario deal. Typically, this includes:

  • Adding or removing lines
  • Editing lines
  • Editing field values on the header

These changes typically adjust the value of metrics at the header level of the deal or a scenario. You can then compare the header-level metrics between the deal and scenarios, or between two different scenarios.

Use these procedures to create and compare scenarios:

  1. Create a Scenario configuration—Define scenario list columns and how they will be compared side by side in the Highlights section.
  2. Add a New Scenario action button—Create an action button to copy the deal.
  3. Add a Compare action button—Define an action to trigger the comparison.
  4. Add the Scenario List component—Drop the component onto the appropriate object record.
  5. Configure header object fields—Indicate whether a view is of the primary deal or a scenario.
