Zilliant's quick start for price list management offers pre-configured templates and scenarios that support the Price Manager pricing waterfall. Use this quick start solution to:
- Quickly update global list prices as costs change.
- Perform currency conversions to calculate country list prices.

Pricing waterfall
Zilliant approaches price management through the lens of the pricing waterfall. To learn more about it, read Pricing waterfall.
The Price List Management waterfall includes the elements needed to manage global, country and regional list prices.
Assumptions
This quick start assumes that the following business conditions are true:
- You conduct business in multiple countries and transact that business in applicable local currency.
- You may sell different products in different countries.
- You manage global list prices and costs centrally in a global currency at the product level.
- You apply exchange rates to prices and costs to convert to and from global or local currency.
- Each country is responsible for its specific product list and related discounts from global list price.
- Each country can set a specific product price (such as an override) that does not adhere to the standard discounts.
- Regional managers analyze and update prices for specific regions based on the country prices.
- Region prices change more often due to changing demands in their specific markets.
- Each region is responsible for its specific product list and related discounts from country list price.
- Each region can set a specific product price (such as an override) that does not adhere to the standard discounts.
- You manage the effective dates for prices and costs.
Product components
This section provides a brief overview of the foundational data used in Price List Management to make pricing updates for standard use cases.
Master Data
Master data sources capture key attributes for the data review, analysis, and update process. You can combine master data tables to define specific attribute relationships, such as country products. These include:
- Countries—Country names and associated currencies.
- Regions—Country names and associated regions.
- Products—Product IDs (SKUs) with text descriptions and attributes (such as category).
- Country Products—Product IDs applicable to (that can be sold by) each country.
- Region Products—Product IDs applicable to (that can be sold by) each region.
Waterfall elements
Waterfall elements are tables that house lists, adjustments, or related calculations required to build the pricing waterfall. To learn more about them, read Waterfall elements. Waterfall elements include:
- Lists—Table of numeric values, such as price or cost, at a specified granularity.
- Global List—Global list price for each product ID. Manage updates through the Global List Update template.
- Product Cost—Product cost for each product ID. Manage updates through the Global List Cost Passthrough template.
- Country Product Costs—Product cost for each product ID in a specific country. Manage updates through the Passthrough Cost Country List template.
- Region Product Costs—Product cost for each product ID in a specific region. Manage updates through the Passthrough Cost Region List template.
- Adjustments—Factor by which the pricing waterfall transitions from one list to the next. May include rules applied in a specified order.
- Currency Exchange—Exchange rate from and to specific currencies. Manage updates through the Update Exchange Rates template.
- Country Discounts—Discount rate to apply to the global list price to calculate the country price for specified country and product ID. Manage updates through the Country List Update template.
- Country Overrides—Price for a specific country and product ID that does not adhere to the standard discounts. Manage updates through the Country List Update template.
- Region Discounts—Discount rate to apply to the country list price to calculate the region price for specified region and product ID. Manage updates through the Update Region Prices template.
- Region Overrides—Price for a specific region and product ID that does not adhere to the standard discounts. Manage updates through the Update Region Prices template.
Setup
The Zilliant project team will work with you to complete the following configuration steps for this quick start:
- Install quick start components
- Set up master data, waterfall element, and template, and scenario workbooks
- Set up scopes (filters) for scenario workbooks
When these tasks are complete, you can begin working with scenarios and templates.
