Scenarios enable you to effectively review, analyze, and update data, working separately from your active data until you're ready to publish. Scenarios appear as workbook links in a designated folder on the Price Manager Manager Dashboard.
Depending on your pricing process and specific implementation, you may create new scenarios or update existing scenario workbooks.
Follow these procedures to work with scenarios:
Open a scenario workbook
Access to scenario workbooks may differ depending on your process and how you handle user access. Work with your Zilliant project team to identify the best method for your implementation.
Use one of the following methods to open a scenario workbook.
From the Manage Scenarios workbook:
- From the Manager Dashboard, open the Manage Scenarios workbook. This worksheet shows the list of workbooks that have been created from defined templates.
- Select a scenario name to go to its workbook.
From the Scenarios folder:
- From the Manager Dashboard, expand the Scenarios folder.
- Select a scenario name to go to its workbook.
Refresh a scenario
Refreshing a scenario lets you see current data from the master data and one or more element waterfall workbooks.
- In the Manage Scenarios workbook, select a scenario.
- Select Refresh.
The refresh workflow may take a few minutes to complete. Check the execution log or the Scenarios list for job status.
Edit a scenario
- In the Manage Scenarios workbook, select a scenario.
- Adjust values as needed.
- Select the Publish checkbox for records that represent updated and final data. This information will be published back to the base and master data workbooks.
- From the Actions menu, select Publish.
Create a scenario
- Open the Manage Scenarios workbook.
- On the Scenarios worksheet, make sure no scenarios are selected.
- On the toolbar, select + New Scenario.
- Enter or select values to create the scenario:
- Selection checkbox—Make sure it is checked.
- Scenario Name—Enter a unique name for the scenario.
- Template—Select a template from the list of options.
- Select Scope—Select the scope of data to include in the scenario workbook.
- Scope Value—Select a scope/filter value. This option is visible if configured during your project implementation.
- Select Create to clone the template workbook and load necessary data. When complete, a success message appears in the worksheet Status column.
