Zilliant CPQ utilizes templates to generate customer-facing outputs, including proposals and system notifications. You can build the following templates:
Proposal report templates (.pdf, .docx, .xlsx)—Use these templates for branded, print-ready PDF proposals or grid-first Microsoft Excel exports with formulas and quick analysis generated from quotes or agreements. You can customize the template by adding attachments and changing the template's structure. For more information, read Proposal report templates.

Excel report template (.xlsx)—Use this template to download the header, line item, and configuration information from quotes or agreements. You can update this file on your computer and then upload it back to CPQ to make automatic changes to your quote or agreement in the app. For more information, read Excel report templates.
Email notification templates—Configure email notifications about changes in opportunities, quotes, and agreements, or about approvals. For more information, read Email notification templates.
How templates work
For all templates, you can follow a consistent lifecycle:
Design a template file on your desktop.
Upload the template file into CPQ.
Register the uploaded file as a template in CPQ (not applicable to email templates).
Configure template access and behavior:
Proposal and Excel templates—Assign templates to user roles.
Email templates—Enable per-event notifications and gate behaviors.
Generate or trigger template outputs:
Users generate proposals or download Excel workbooks from quotes and agreements.
CPQ sends emails automatically when a mapped event occurs, for example, approval at a given gate.
