Set password policies to define requirements for how users must construct or select passwords.
To define password policies:
- From the left navigation area, select Administration.
- From the top navigation bar, select Operation Settings. You may have to scroll to view this selection.
- From the sub-navigation bar, select Password Policy Settings.
- Enter values to set password policies:
- Password Minimum Length—Enter a numeric value for the minimum password length.
- Password Maximum Length—Enter a numeric value for the maximum password length.
- Minimum number of lowercase characters—Enter a numeric value for the miminum allowed number of lowercase characters.
- Minimum number of uppercase characters—Enter a numeric value for the minimum allowed number of uppercase characters.
- Minimum number of special characters—Enter a numeric value for the minimum allowed number of special characters.
- Minimum number of numeric characters—Enter a numeric value for the minimum allowed number of numeric characters.
- Number of old passwords disallowed—Enter a value:
- Blank—Users cannot reuse a previously used password.
- 0—Users can reuse a password.
- 1 or greater—Users must select the equivalent number of different passwords before reusing a password. For example, if set to 3, the user must select a minimum of three different passwords before reusing a previous password.
Note
Password policy changes do not invalidate existing, valid passwords. The password policy is applied only when creating users or when a password is reset.
