Article summary

You can create individual Tableau analytics worksheets in IQ Interface workbooks. These are convenient for viewing large amounts of Tableau data.

For identification, a pie chart icon appears next to the name of a Tableau analytics worksheet.

Important

You must publish a Tableau workbook to the server before integrating it into IQ Interface.

Create a Tableau analytics worksheet

  1. On the Manager Dashboard, open a workbook.
  2. In the workbook tabs area, select Add.
  3. Name the new worksheet, then select Next.
  4. Select Analytics, then select Next.
  5. In the Tableau Workbook field, enter the name of the Tableau workbook.
  6. In the Tableau View field, enter the view name of the Tableau workbook.
    Notes
    • For Tableau Workbook and Tableau View fields, use names from the Tableau workbook's URL. Do not include spaces.
    • After you create a worksheet, you cannot edit the Tableau Workbook and Tableau View fields.
  7. Select Finalize.

Configure a Tableau analytics worksheet

  1. Select the Tableau analytics worksheet.
  2. Select Properties to open the Worksheet general properties page.
  3. If needed, adjust Worksheet name, Worksheet is hidden, Add Tabs, Add Tooltips, and Add Toolbar options.
  4. Configure static and dynamic Tableau parameters.

Configure static parameters

On the Worksheet general properties page, select Add parameters and specify static Query Parameters that will be passed to Tableau:

  • In the leftmost box, enter the name of a query parameter supported by the Tableau worksheet.
  • In the rightmost box, enter the static value that will be passed as that query parameter to Tableau.

Configure dynamic parameters

Dynamic Tableau parameters ensure that different users, when opening the same analytics worksheet, see different, user-specific data based on how the Tableau worksheet properties are configured.

  1. Ensure the Tableau workbook can accept the dynamic parameter. To do this, in Tableau:
    1. Create a Tableau report or dashboard and add a user name column.
    2. Rename the user name column to zpmUserId.
    Notes
    • User names must be in Salesforce login format.
    • zpmUserId does not have to be one of the active visible filters on the dashboard.
  2. In IQ Interface, on the Worksheet general properties page, select the Add zpmUserId checkbox to pass zpmUserId as a dynamic value in the Tableau query.
