Configure text wrapping in column fields and headers

  • Dark
    Light

Article summary

By default, long text values in the Add Lines, Line Items and Workspace column fields and headers are truncated. You can configure any selected column field and column header to automatically wrap the text value and display the cell contents in full and on multiple lines.

  • If the wrapped text fits on two rows, then it will fit within the cell borders of the column header row.
  • If the wrapped text fits on three and more rows, it will extend beyond the cell borders of the column header. There's no workaround for this behavior at this point.
  • If wrapping is enabled, but the label value in the column's heading is a single word that is too long to fully fit the cell, it will be truncated and displayed with ellipsis at the end.
  • Some special characters will prevent text wrapping. You might need to experiment to find the characters that will wrap as desired. For example: Style Name and Style-Name will be wrapped. But StyleName and Style/Name will not be wrapped.

Prerequisites

Before configuring this feature, make sure that the following fields are visible and can be edited:

  • Text Wrapping on Product Search Field object (for Add Lines)
  • Text Wrapping on Line Level Add Lines Column object (for level-specific Add Lines columns)
  • Text Wrapping on Line List Column object (for Line Items)
  • Text Wrapping on Workspace Column object (for Workspace)
  • Enable Column Header Text Wrap on Product Selector Configuration object.

If the fields are not visible or can't be edited, confirm that they have been added to the object's page layout and are visible in the user's profile. For detailed instructions on how to add fields and check for visibility, refer to Make fields visible or editable.

  2. Select a line level from the list, then select the Line Level Add Lines Columns Related list section.
  3. Select a column to edit.
  4. From the Text Wrapping dropdown, select Wrap.
