You can specify that displayed dates rely on your Salesforce locale settings. Doing this allows you to see and work with dates in a format that matches the customary format for your locale.
If you use locale settings to determine date display format, it affects all users. The date format will appear according to each user's locale setting.
You must specify your preferred date display option in each worksheet.
Follow the steps in Change number format to change your locale settings.
- In a worksheet, select Column Settings.
- Select a date field.
- On the Column Settings dialog, select Locale from the Display Format list.
- Select Save.
The format of the updated date field matches the format associated with your locale.
For example, if your locale setting is English (United States), the date appears in MM/DD/YYYY format. If your locale setting is French, then the date appears in DD/MM/YYYY format.
Limitations
When performing formulaic bulk updates, defining calculated columns, or defining KPI cards, you must manually enter dates (incuding the single quote marks) in one of the following formats:
- 'yyyy-mm-dd'
- 'mm-dd-yyyy'
