Article summary

Tasks are activities with due dates. Tasks can be linked to an account, contact, opportunity, or a quote, and typically tasks don't involve customer interactions.

View linked tasks on an object's Activities tab.

Create a task

  1. From the application left navigation area, select Activities.

  2. On the All Tasks tab, select .

  3. Enter information or make selections to define the task:

    • Task Name—Enter a name for the task.
    • Assignee—Select to assign the task to the appropriate person in the organization.
    • Account—Select appropriate account for this task.
    • Start Date & Due Date—Define the time period during which the task should be completed. For example, Dec 22, 2024 – Dec 31, 2024.
    • Priority—Default value is Medium.
    • Status—Default value is New.
    • Description—Enter a task description or any additional information.
  4. Select Create.

Configure a task

By default, tasks have the following characteristics when created:

  • Priority—Set to Medium.
  • Status—Set to New.

Task status

You can add new and edit available task status options:

  1. From the application left navigation area, select Administration.
  2. From the top navigation bar, select Master Data Management.
  3. Select Activity Task Status.
  4. Select a task status to edit it, or select to add a task's status.
  5. (Optional.) In a task status, on the Localization tab, define translations for the status labels.

View tasks for a specific object

Zilliant CPQ also supports tasks' visualization and their management in a Gantt chart format.

To view tasks assigned to a specific object (either account, contact, opportunity, or a quote), perform the following steps:

  1. Go to the appropriate object and select the Activities tab.
  2. View the list of Tasks configured for this object.
  3. Use drag-and-drop feature to easily adjust the task's start and end dates.
  4. Select any task from the list to edit it.
