You can create one or more scenarios to evaluate how potential changes might impact a deal while also keeping the original deal for comparison. Scenarios allow you to:
- Modify and adjust header and line values without impacting the original deal.
- Compare the original deal to one or more of its scenarios.
You can create as many scenarios as you want, and you can change them in different ways. These changes typically adjust the value of metrics at the header level of the deal or a scenario. You can then compare the header-level metrics between the deal and scenarios, or between different scenarios.
The benefits of creating a scenario include:
- Exploring "what-if" changes to a deal before publishing it.
- Understanding the impact that potential deal changes will have on your busines.
- Making better informed decisions about deals.
To create a scenario
- Open an agreement that you wish to price in a different way, and select New Scenario.
- In the New dialog:
- Name—Enter a descriptive name for the new scenario.
- Description—Enter relevant information about the changes you are making in this scenario.
- Select Save.
Deal Manager creates a copy of the agreement and automatically redicrects you to this new copy. You will see a green banner notifying you on the successful scenario creation.
To edit a scenario
- Select one or more lines in the copy of the agreement, and then select Edit or Edit Lines.
- Change one or more values on the line to test the expected revenue or line score.
- Select Save.
To compare the new scenario to the original deal
- In the scenario you have been editing, select the Scenarios tab, then select Compare.
- You will see the scenario metrics displayed against the metrics of the original deal. You can compare the Total Expected Revenue, Weighted Margin %, and Weighted Line Score.
- If you are satisfied with the scenario metrics, select Set as Primary, and then select Yes.
Once you have defined your scenario as primary, it becomes a primary deal and is automatically submitted for approval.
