This is a crucial step for working with Price IQ, and requires at least one configured [scenario](/v1/docs/price-iq-scenarios). After you [apply](/v1/docs/apply-strategies) strategies in the scenario, use one of the following procedures to optimize prices. #### From the scenario workbook 1. From the Price IQ Manager Dashboard, expand the **Scenarios** folder. 2. Select a scenario name to go to its workbook. 3. On any worksheet, select the **Optimize Prices** worksheet action. #### From the **Negotiated Prices** workbook 1. From the Price IQ Manager Dashboard, open the **Negotiated Prices** workbook. 2. On the **Scenario Management** worksheet, select the **Selection** checkbox near your scenario. 3. Select the **Optimize** worksheet action. Tip The length of time required by the optimization process depends on the number of prices included in the scenario. Price IQ may require up to an hour to complete the process. You can close Price IQ or continue using the app while it optimizes prices. When the optimization process has finished, a green notification box appears to indicate completion. ### KPI optimization states Price IQ supports these optimization states: - **Needs Opt**—The optimization process has not run on a scenario. - **Optimized**—The optimization process has run on a scenario. - **Partial Opt**—The optimization process has run, but constraints defined in some external worksheets—such as Profit Rev Strategy, Min Margin, and Cust Spend Spread—haven’t been applied. ![KPI optimization states in Price IQ](https://cdn.document360.io/24f960e8-3c1c-4c18-a2c6-83b6ae4aab84/Images/Documentation/KPI_optimization_states.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-04T05%3A37%3A06Z&se=2026-11-04T06%3A37%3A06Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=XLjmvBy6s5k1wI5seYIcp%2FmUoXEXj%2BAYbQhQDB2uOVU%3D) You can check the status of the optimization process in the [dashboard execution log](/v1/docs/view-the-job-execution-log) or [worksheet activity log](/v1/docs/view-the-worksheet-activity-log). A scenario is a "what if" version of a strategy sheet. By experimenting with different optimization strategy lines, price optimization strategies, and strategy parameters in each scenario, you can compare the price review reports in each scenario to determine which scenario yields the best overall price optimization results. Buttons that are unique to a worksheet are in the top-right corner of your screen. These buttons are called **worksheet actions**.
