## Install Zilliant CLI for Windows

1. [Download](/v1/docs/install-and-update-zilliant-cli#download-zilliant-cli-for-windows) the installation file.
2. Double-click the installation file on your computer to run it.
3. On the **Choose Components** dialog:
  - Select the **zdx-cli CLI *X.X.X*** (where *X.X.X* is the version number) and **Set PATH to zdx-cli** checkboxes.
  - (Optional.) Select the **Add %LOCALAPPDATA%** checkbox to improve the performance.
4. Select **Next**.
5. Select a folder to install Zilliant CLI, then select **Install**.
6. After the installation completes, restart your command prompt, then [verify that Zilliant CLI is available](/v1/docs/install-and-update-zilliant-cli#verify-installation-and-get-version-information).

## Verify installation and get version information

To ensure that you've installed Zilliant CLI correctly and to view the CLI version installed on your computer, run the following command at the command prompt:

```plaintext
zdx --version
```

The command output includes information about the installed CLI version. For example:

```plaintext
VERSION
    zdx-cli/1.0.1 win32-x64 node-v20.10.0
```

## Update Zilliant CLI

To update Zilliant CLI, download a new installation file and reinstall Zilliant CLI on your computer to overwrite the previous version. Follow the [installation instructions](/v1/docs/install-and-update-zilliant-cli#install-zilliant-cli-for-windows) for Windows.
