# About IMCScript

The IMCScript graph traversal scripting language enables you to read from and write into application data available at runtime. It offers:

- Easy to implement, simple syntax
- Intuitive editing interface
- Flexible support for multiple read and write use cases
- Ability to run scripts in parallel
- Audit log traceability

Enriched with built-in function libraries, IMCScript supports the use of variables, operators, conditional loops and statements, and user-defined functions.

IMC Script is built on the [Java Expression Language (JEXL)](https://commons.apache.org/proper/commons-jexl/) ![](https://cdn.document360.io/24f960e8-3c1c-4c18-a2c6-83b6ae4aab84/Images/Documentation/external-link-svgrepo-com.svg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-27T06%3A10%3A38Z&se=2026-10-27T07%3A10%3A38Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=DUrJPNF5U%2FvsYISGuXSUwG9OtJ4A1OzEh11no7cx6kM%3D) library. Like JavaScript, it adheres to [European Computer Manufacturers Association (ECMA) standards](https://ecma-international.org/publications-and-standards/standards/?_gl=1*ujxs75*_ga*MTM0MzU4MTM0NC4xNzE2MjE5MTA5*_ga_TDCK4DWEPP*MTcxNjIxOTEwOS4xLjEuMTcxNjIxOTE0NS4wLjAuMA..) ![](https://cdn.document360.io/24f960e8-3c1c-4c18-a2c6-83b6ae4aab84/Images/Documentation/external-link-svgrepo-com.svg?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-10-27T06%3A10%3A38Z&se=2026-10-27T07%3A10%3A38Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=DUrJPNF5U%2FvsYISGuXSUwG9OtJ4A1OzEh11no7cx6kM%3D).
