Scenarios appear as workbook links in a designated folder on the Price IQ **Manager Dashboard**. Follow these procedures to work with scenarios: - [Open a scenario](/v1/docs/price-iq-scenarios#open-a-scenario) - [Create a scenario](/v1/docs/price-iq-scenarios#create-a-scenario) - [Build a scenario](/v1/docs/price-iq-scenarios#build-a-scenario) - [Execute scenario actions](/v1/docs/price-iq-scenarios#execute-scenario-actions) After you create a scenario, you can apply [strategies](/v1/docs/apply-strategies) and [optimize](/v1/docs/optimize-prices) prices. Before you continue Depending on your user settings, the **Negotiated Prices** workbook might be named **Scenario Management** or **Manage Scenarios Dashboard**. The workbook's capabilities are still the same. ## Open a scenario Use one of the following methods to open a scenario workbook: - From the **Negotiated Prices** workbook: 1. From the Price IQ Manager Dashboard, open the **Negotiated Prices** workbook. 2. On the **Scenario Management** worksheet, select a scenario name to go to its workbook. - From the **Scenarios** folder: 1. From the Price IQ Manager Dashboard, expand the **Scenarios** folder. 2. Select a scenario name to go to its workbook. Important On the Price IQ Manager Dashboard, you may see a folder named **Setup**. If you are a Pricing Analyst or Pricing Manager, do not use workbooks in this folder. They are designed for use only by configuration teams. ## Create a scenario 1. From the Price IQ Manager Dashboard, go to **Negotiated Prices**. 2. On the **Scenario Management** worksheet, select Insert Row. 3. Enter information or make selections to create the scenario: - **Scenario Name**—Enter a name for the new scenario. Special characters are not allowed. - **Scenario Template**—Select a scenario workbook template. For most scenarios, select **Optimize**. - **Scope**—Select the scope of prices to include in the scenario. This limits the number of prices the scenario will optimize. 4. Select **Save**. ## Build a scenario To finalize the creation of the scenario, you must build it. 1. From the Price IQ Manager Dashboard, go to **Negotiated Prices**. 2. On the **Scenario Management** worksheet, select the **Selection** checkbox near the scenario to build. 3. Select the **Build** worksheet action. 4. In the confirmation dialog, select **Run Action**. Note - If you previously ran the scenario, results or customizations in the scenario are lost when you run the scenario again. - Depending on your scenario settings, it may take as long as ten minutes to run a scenario. 5. When the scenario build completes, refresh the worksheet. You can now work with the scenario to [apply strategies](/v1/docs/apply-strategies) and [optimize prices](/v1/docs/optimize-prices). ## Execute scenario actions You can execute various actions with your scenarios, including publishing, refreshing, and optimizing. You can perform each action for one scenario or simultaneously for multiple scenarios. To run an action: 1. From the Price IQ Manager Dashboard, go to **Negotiated Prices**. 2. Open the **Scenario Management** worksheet. 3. Select the **Selection** checkbox next to one or more scenarios. 4. Select a worksheet action: - **Build**—Build or rebuild the scenario and refresh data in it. Note Any optimization results or strategy customizations in the scenario are permanently lost when you build or rebuild a scenario. - **Refresh**—Refresh data in the scenario using the specified data scope. This action does not change the structure or strategy lines in the scenario. - **Optimize**—Apply [strategies](/v1/docs/apply-strategies) and [optimize](/v1/docs/optimize-prices) prices in the scenario. - **Publish**—Push all prices from the scenario into your connected price management system and into the **Negotiated Prices > Publish Price History** worksheet. - **Duplicate**—Build a new scenario that duplicates an existing scenario's scope and strategy lines. - **Delete**—Permanently delete the scenario. - **Clear Analytics**—Clear the data used for the scenario’s visual analytics. A scenario is a "what if" version of a strategy sheet. By experimenting with different optimization strategy lines, price optimization strategies, and strategy parameters in each scenario, you can compare the price review reports in each scenario to determine which scenario yields the best overall price optimization results. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/24f960e8-3c1c-4c18-a2c6-83b6ae4aab84/Images/Glossary/add_60.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-05T14%3A40%3A25Z&se=2026-11-05T15%3A40%3A25Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=4GA6b%2BZp3j51D4NJw44D3CZuJtNmCZct6MuS%2FMrZsYo%3D) Insert Row Buttons that are unique to a worksheet are in the top-right corner of your screen.
